Sometimes we chase hope in all the places, the lottery is one of them. Singaporeans begin the year by taking a chance and hope for the best to win the lottery. TOTO is one of the iterations of the classic lottery game unique to Singapore, in this piece let’s explore Toto.
What is TOTO?
TOTO is a legal form of gambling established in Singapore. It is a state-owned lottery under Singapore Pools, the only lottery operator recognized by the government of Singapore. It is the second most famous method of gambling in Singapore aside from 4-Digits.
The Toto lottery tickets can be purchased at the recognized outlets across Singapore. Typically the draws are done every Monday and Thursday at 6:30 pm in Singapore time. The draws are transferred to 9:30 pm if there is a cascade draw.
How to Play Toto?
If you have no idea how the TOTO lottery works, here are the dynamics of the game.
Basically, in Toto, the player picks at least 6 numbers from 1 to 49. Amid each draw, six winning numbers and one extra number are drawn.
If the numbers that you chose match at least three from the winning numbers then you’re entitled to a prize. The amount of your prize depends on the matched chosen numbers to the winning numbers drawn.
Unfortunately, however, if more than one winner is plucked from Groups 1 to 4, the prize pool is divided amongst the winners. The prize amounts of Groups 5 to 7 are constant in 4D Singapore.
History of TOTO
TOTO was introduced as a way to moderate the illegal gambling in Singapore in the 1960s and also serve as a way to compensate for the lack of casinos in the country so they established a state-owned lottery. A hand-drawn form of TOTO was done on June 9, 1968.
In 1981, snowballing was popularized, it is made so that the amount of the prize pool increases in each draw. The system entry method is also established during this period as a way to place multiple wagers on one ticket.
A popular online game based on a ‘five out of 49’ format was introduced on May 19, 1986. In 1988, the standard ‘five out of 49’ format was changed to ‘six out of 42’. On July 1, 1997, the game’s format changed again and this time it is ‘six out of 45’.
The game then established popular draws during this time, the Hongbao Draw on February 10, 2000, the Toto Millennium Draw on December 30, 1999, and the Mooncake Draw established on October 6, 2006.
The Toto Game finally was changed again to ‘six out of 49’ format on October 7, 2014. Toto finally became available on the internet in September 2016.
Odds of Winning
Players who bet on TOTO all are eyeing to win the prize money but what are the actual odds of winning the jackpot prize in 4D result today.
In Group 1, one needs to match the six numbers on the winning numbers from 1 to 49. The number does not repeat so the possible combination will be one to win the jackpot prize. This means the chance of winning the prize is one in 14 million.
Gamble Responsibly
Finally, like any form of gambling, we encourage you to moderate your gambling activities. Since the odds of winning in a TOTO game is relatively slim, it is imperative to not dwell much on the notion of buying too many tickets to win, bet wisely instead.
